2020 MIOpera Vocal Competition

University/ College Competition Rules

*Previous first prize winners are not eligible.

1) You must be enrolled in a University/College program at the Undergraduate or the Graduate level to compete at this level. There are no age limits in this category, as long as you are enrolled in school. Participants enrolled in a Performance Certificate program are ineligible for this category, please apply as an emerging professional.

2) You will be asked to submit 3 audition selections. Once the selections are submitted they can not be changed. Submit a video recording of the following: 1 Art Song (Any language and genre) 2 Arias (From Standard Operatic Repertoire in any language)

3) There is no travel involved.

4) You will be required to pay a $25.00 application fee. All applicants will pay by a PayPal link. Once we have received your application and recordings, we will send you the PayPal link to pay your fee.

5) Your application will be considered void if it is not completed in its entirety or if you do not submit the application fee by the deadline dates.

6) No late applications will be accepted. Deadlines: December 1, 2020

7) All application fees are non-refundable.

8) All decisions of the judges are final.

9) Feedback will be given to all completed applications.

10) Dress code: Please dress in concert attire for your videos.

11) This competition is only open all singers regardless of citizenship.

12) All awards will be sent as a check at the completion of the judging process.

13) You will be notified by email of our results.

14) We will be choosing 10 semi-finalists. The semi-finalists videos will be broadcast on the MIOpera YouTube Channel on December 8, 2020. Semi-finalists will be chosen and notified by December 8, 2020.

15) Semi-finalist singers in this category will be eligible for 1st prize, 2nd prize, 3rd prize and Honorable Mention.

16) The judges will review the videos and choose the winners. Judges: TBA

17) Final Announcement of Winners will be on December 15, 2020 on our MIOpera YouTube Channel!

Emerging Artist Division

RULES

Previous Grand Prize Winners are not eligible to apply.

1) There is no age limit for this category.

3) This level of the competition is for those who are emerging professionals and have not yet sung with an opera company at the A house level or have participated in a Level A house Young Artist Program.

5) You will be required to pay a $25.00 application fee. All applicants will pay by a PayPal link that will be sent directly to you once we have received your completed application.

6) Your application will be considered void if it is not completed in its entirety or if you do not submit the application fee by the deadline date.
